The European Commission’s Creative Europe programme has given the green light to Europasinfonie — substantial support for a project that will connect twelve European orchestras and choirs in a single, real-time performance.

The Europasinfonie project has received substantial funding from the European Commission’s Creative Europe programme, administered by the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA).

In June 2027, twelve leading European orchestras and choirs, coordinated by the Dresdner Sinfoniker, will join forces to form a single virtual orchestra — for the first time ever, musicians from twelve European countries will perform together live and in real time, despite being up to 2,200 kilometres apart. This is made possible by specially developed low-latency transmission technology.

Three new orchestral works will be commissioned through an international composition competition and premiered under the baton of conductor Andrea Molino. In cooperation with European television and radio stations, the concert will be broadcast live to audiences across the continent.

Markus Rindt, Artistic Director of the Dresdner Sinfoniker:
“For cohesion in Europe, Europasinfonie is an extremely important project — especially in times like these. The leading orchestras involved show how bridges can be built through cultural collaboration.”

Beyond the concert itself, Europasinfonie lays the foundation for a lasting European network: conservatories equipped with low-latency studios, enabling musicians and composers to connect and collaborate across borders long after the concert.
